Last Aussie Shows: please note changes!
Below is a list of AV’s last few shows of her Aussie tour. On Friday, Jan. 30th, Ann appeared in sweltering Adelaide for her one and only Adelaide performance at the Wheatsheaf Hotel!
Please note show changes:
Sunday, February 1st at the outdoor venue at Red Poles Winery (South Australia) has been CANCELLED due to 40 + Celsius temperatures in the region. Sorry everyone, there is actually fear of equipment malfunctioning in the heat, not to mention the audience (and performer!) risking heat stroke in the blazing sun. Rain check needed (no pun intended??).
Also: AV’s show in Bulli/Wollongong scheduled for Feb. 6th HAS BEEN MOVED to Saturday, February 7th, to avoid conflict with the Illawarra Folk Festival after party scheduled on Feb. 6th (which AV may appear at, in top secret style… ;)). After a very successful appearance a few weeks ago at the Illawarra Folk Fest we anticipate a great crowd for this show just up the road from the Illawarra Festival grounds.
And: AV’s VERY LAST Aussie show, at the Harp in Tempe, Sydney, will feature another Illawarra Folk Fest performer as the support act, Brett Robin Wood, http://www.brettrobinwood.com, a popular performer at the Harp and other Sydney venues. Ann will be joined on stage once again by drummer Chris Flanagan to wrap up, reunion style, her 2.5 month tour of the MOMENTARILY VERY HOT country of Australia, so make sure to let your Sydney friends know about this stellar show!
Details for all the shows are right here and an online link can be found below.

Here’s a top secret document, a leaked press release about this show:
“Triple Bill: 3 of Western Canada’s Ambitious Songwriters Take to the Stage at the Haven Social Club on none other than Friday the 13th of February!
Dubbed by the Calgary Herald as “Edmonton’s pop laureate of emotional conflict”, award winning songstress Ann Vriend will drop in on her home town, with support acts Matt Epp from Winnipeg, and Brock Tyler from Edmonton– for one night only.
Show 8:00 pm, 7:30 pm doors, 15120 A Stony Plain Road
Ann Vriend is currently completing her 6th CD tour of Australia in support of her most recent album, “When We Were Spies”. Her Edmonton appearance on February 13 is her only Edmonton show for the whole winter season before she heads South for the U.S., where she will showcase at the North American Folk Alliance in Memphis, Tennessee, along with Matt Epp and 30 other Canadians at the “Beaver Suite Hotel” showcase– a Canadian extravaganza of folk/roots talent, hosted by nationally renowned Toronto folk/roots publicist Richard Flohil. In March Vriend will also be performing at an official showcase at South By Southwest, in Austin, Texas; SXSW is one of the largest music conferences on the planet. In between these two showcases Vriend will reside in Nashville, Tennessee, working on writing her next album’s material. Canadian songwriter Matt Epp is truly a troubadour. From Manitoba, but with no fixed address, he’s toured ceaselessly for the last 2 years by plane, train, and automobile… and hitchhiking. His third full length solo album ‘Orphan Horse’ has received acclaim across North America, has been featured by Stuart McLean on CBC Radio’s Vinyl Cafe, Alberta’s CKUA, and Berkeley, CA’s KPFA among other notable radio shows. Epp has toured the album from Newfoundland to BC, and California, Oregon, Chicago, Nashville, and so on. Matt and the songs have reached the ears of such artists as Eliza Gilkyson, Ron Sexsmith, Matt Mays, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Seth Ford-Young (Tom Waits), Amelia Curran, Kathleen Edwards, and Jonathan Richman. More info about Matt can be found at http://www.mattepp.com, http://www.myspace.com/mattepp, and http://www.sonicbids.com/mattepp.
Brock Tyler is a multi-instrumentalist songwriter out of Edmonton, AB. HIs 2007 full-length “Unclosing”, noted for its tightly-knit songwriting and bold arrangements, has been well-received across the country, hitting the top-ten on campus radio, receiving attention on CBC radio, and having been featured on local CKUA’s “nightcap”. Unique and accessible, Tyler’s songs feature memorable melodies and poignant, well-written lyrics which, when combined with his impressive finger-picking style and humble stage presence, are captivating enough to quiet a room. http://www.brocktyler.com.
And while she’s in the province AV has her one Calgary show all winter, too, so make sure to come out on Valentine’s Day for this great show!!
