Canadian author, vibrational healer and public speaker (Toastmaster) Dawn James believes that “all you need is within you.” She proves her point most eloquently in her informative, well-researched and helpful guide book, Raise Your Vibration, Transform Your Life: A Practical Guide for Attaining Better Health, Vitality and Inner Peace. In it, Dawn provides her readers with the knowledge they will need to truly raise their vibration in order to transform their lives and she also believes that healing begins with you. Her 20 years of research, interviews and experience is evident on each and every page.
“Vibrational frequency is the constant rate of electrical flow that is measurable between two points.” In her book, Dawn covers various subjects and their vibrational frequencies including, the vibration and health connection, making conscious choices, food and drink, detoxification, mass media, breath work, essential oils, chakras, gems and crystals, sound and colour, nature, meditation, gratitude, and forgiveness among other things. She has presented an all-encompassing plan for personal action and included easy to read charts, key messages, tips and exercises that will assist you with your own plan. This is an exceptional physiological, psychological, spiritual and holistic guide book that you will refer to again and again.
Dawn’s chapter on Detoxification was particularly interesting, as was the Brain Waves-Stress-Health Connection which for someone like me who suffers from poor sleep proved to be quite thought-provoking:
“There are four basic brain waves: beta, alpha, theta, and delta, which are linked to different states of brain functioning and different states of consciousness. Each of the four brain waves is good for some activities; however, we can become imbalanced or stressed by overstimulating some brain wave states and ignoring or suppressing others. For instance, if we cannot turn on theta or delta brain waves, we can suffer from insomnia, restlessness and impatience.”
While much of Dawn’s book reads like a text book, I was truly moved by her personal story in the chapter on The Vibration of Forgiveness and concur that it is so true that forgiveness is about personal power and it’s a process for finding peace. The final chapter, Living in Love, contains one of my favourite paragraphs:
“By actively choosing to raise your personal vibration, you are choosing to love yourself by removing stress and regaining vitality, by transcending your ego-mind to your higher mind of Divine Wisdom and by living in harmony to experience oneness with all aspects of yourself. Self-love is like the seed from which love for all others is born.”
