Please Help Support This GoFundMe Campaign for my Friend, Fred Chapman

Fred ChapmanI donated to this Go Fund Me campaign because Fred Chapman has been a good friend of mine for many years and a great supporter of both me and my musician clients. He’s a wonderful, smart guy (he has his PhD in Math!) who really just wants to work and get his life back and I know very well as a self-employed person, that when the chips are down, we need help like this! Someday it could be me.

If anyone I know or that this post reaches can help with tips for a job for Fred (his LinkedIn profile is in the campaign description), a donation (any amount is appreciated) or simply by sharing this post, we would both be very grateful! Thank you so much!

All my best, Christine 🙏

I have had the distinct pleasure of befriending, via social media, two of the most genuinely passionate, knowledgeable and FUN social media/classic rock fans EVER and I am absolutely delighted to be able to tell you about their MUST READ book, Rock The World With Your Online Presence: Your Ticket To A Multi-Platinum LinkedIn Profile.

This book is an easy, well explained and entertaining read that will most importantly give you the tools you need to rock your social media world – particularly on LinkedIn (which now has over 80 million users). Mike O’Neil and Lori Ruff are the Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks of Social Media and with over 1,000 rock concerts under his belt, Mike knows how to motivate you with his unique blend of “rock & roll inspired “insider” guidance” because he lives and breathes what he’s talking about. Both he and Lori are entertaining public speakers, expert trainers and most importantly, warm, friendly and accessible people. With over 29,000+ LinkedIn connections, Mike is the world’s #1 LinkedIn trainer. Who else would you want to get your information from when it comes to learning how to make your LinkedIn profile as dynamic as it can possibly be?

Rock The World With Your Online Presence: Your Ticket To A Multi-Platinum LinkedIn Profile is filled with song quotes from classic rock songs that tie in to the subject matter of the relevant chapter they present. This edition is simply the first step of a five-step methodology that will enable you to create a multi-platinum LinkedIn profile and SEO optimization guide. Every section is optimized as a song would be on a greatest hits compilation album. Think Classic Rock, analog, over the air radio…think Almost Famous, and you’ll totally get what O’Neil and Ruff (the #9 LinkedIn Woman!) are going for with this project.

What you’ll learn from reading this book is that social media isn’t about replacing your real-life friends with digital pals, but rather about expanding your professional and personal network to enable you to make connections in industries you are interested in to find either potential employers or qualified candidates.

Mike’s personal philosophy is to “Always give more than you want to get back. If someone asks you to connect them to another person, do so gracefully. Be honest, but be forthcoming and helpful. It’ll pay off in spades.” I couldn’t agree with him more.

“Social media is such a cultural phenomenon! Many years from now, we will recall it in much the same way as we look back at the Rock & Roll years. We will have relationships that started online firmly established in our lives. We will look back and realize just how the most important relationships in our lives were started and Social media will be a central theme, much like a soundtrack to a really good movie.”

I have already found this quote to be true in my life. I have online friends that I’ve been close to for over 10 years who I trust implicitly and I don’t think we’re going to see the end of social media any time soon.

The beauty of LinkedIn is that it “not only helps you find and communicate with decision makers, it helps you form and nurture relationships with them…People on LinkedIn are there to help others on LinkedIn…” So, the first thing you need when getting started is to know how to create a complete profile that will rock the world of your audience! Remember that you are there to find and be found!

O’Neil and Ruff’s book is chock full of excellent tips and savvy knowledge of the LinkedIn platform on which they are now superstars. It contains very advantageous Appendices and you will find yourself referring to it again and again. It’s an inexpensive yet very valuable asset for you to have to give you the tools that you need. They give you the opportunity to download a comprehensive Rock The World Profile Worksheet from their website at www.RockTheWorldBook.com/extras that will help you to get started.

In fact, there is a plethora of useful information on their website and their company, Integrated Alliances, can help you make connections that mean business. “Integrated Alliances has trained 10,000+ professionals in 500+ classes, workshops, webinars, seminars & conferences all over the world. In fact, we’ve trained over 100 other LinkedIn trainers!”

Discover the importance of networking on LinkedIn and become a LinkedIn Rock Star with the help of Rock The World With Your Online Presence. It doesn’t get any easier than this or more enjoyable!

The Merits of LinkedIn

If you are interested in social media marketing and networking via the Internet, and you’re not registered with LinkedIn, you’re missing out on a great opportunity!

LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking site for career professionals and a wonderful and convenient place to look for a job in your field. Mainly used for professional networking, you use it as an online resume and upload your resume or CV details to it, creating a personable profile (including photo) that allows other professionals to peruse your credentials. It also allows your friends, co-workers and/or former colleagues to give you a public recommendation (and you can write one for them) in writing about the quality of your work and professional achievements. There are over 55 MILLION LinkedIn users at present!

From Wikipedia:

“The purpose of the site is to allow registered users to maintain a list of contact details of people they know and trust in business. The people in the list are called Connections. Users can invite anyone (whether a site user or not) to become a connection.
This list of connections can then be used in a number of ways:

• A contact network is built up consisting of their direct connections, the connections of each of their connections (termed second-degree connections) and also the connections of second-degree connections (termed third-degree connections). This can be used to gain an introduction to someone a person wishes to know through a mutual, trusted contact.

• It can then be used to find jobs, people and business
opportunities recommended by someone in one’s contact network.

• Employers can list jobs and search for potential candidates.

• Job seekers can review the profile of hiring managers and discover which of their existing contacts can introduce them.

The “gated-access approach” (where contact with any professional requires either a preexisting relationship, or the intervention of a contact of theirs) is intended to build trust among the service’s users.

LinkedIn also allows users to research companies with which they may be interested in working. When typing the name of a given company in the search box, statistics about the company are provided. These may include the ratio of female to male employees, the percentage of the most common titles/positions held within the company, the location of the company’s headquarters and offices, or a list of present, past, and former employees.”

I find that it’s a really useful networking and marketing tool, particularly if you get involved in group discussions on subjects you have an interest in. I joined a few groups concerning topics of interest and have made quite a few new author friends over on Facebook as a result. I did notice a bit of squabbling going on within the parameters of certain group topics, but for the most part, the people I’ve interacted with have been very pleasant, professional, and helpful and some group topics give you a forum for advertising about your business without spamming anyone.

Other things that you can do with LinkedIn include reconnecting with former colleagues and friends, keeping track of professional industry events, sharing your blog link and Amazon Reading list, SlideShare presentations, Polls, Travel, linking your Twitter account, checking out company profiles and more.

Jan Vermeiren's Guide to LinkedIn

There is even a book available called How To Really Use LinkedIn by Jan Vermeiren that you can find on Amazon.ca and Jan’s blog is right here on WordPress.

As you know, I do internet promotion for authors & musicians specifically, but I also help people to create cost-effective websites and blogs, learn how to create Facebook fan pages and MySpace profiles and how to use them effectively, and can explain Twitter to the unenlightened. If you have questions regarding internet promotion strategies for your business and need help to understand social media marketing and/or the most powerful social networking sites on the Internet today, just let me know. I’ll do my best to be helpful. And don’t be afraid to connect with me on LinkedIn!

I hope that your business is doing very well and wish you much success with LinkedIn and other popular online social networking websites.

Best wishes,

Christine
