Emily Maguire Starts Over Again

This morning I received this newsletter from English singer-songwriter Emily Maguire, whom I adore.

“Hi everyone,

As promised, I can now tell you about the writing project I’ve been working on these past few months.

I’ve written a book called ‘Start Over Again’. It’s based on the verses of that song (from my album ‘Believer’) and is a collection of poetry, prose, song-lyrics and some very personal diary entries. It tells the real story behind my songs…

You might have heard me talking about it yesterday morning on Radio 2. If you want to know more, click here. The book is available now to order from Amazon or direct from Shaktu Records.

Hope all’s well in your world.

With best wishes,

Emily”

I have been so inspired by the fact that the very brave and beautiful Emily has just revealed to the world that she suffers from bipolar disorder and she has written this book, Start Over Again about her experiences, that I’ve been sharing it with my entire social network.

Everyone has dealt with depression at some point or another and I have several friends who have bipolar disorder – some who are willing to talk about it – and others who are not. While I am not bipolar, I am very emotional, have suffered with depression, lacked the self-confidence to manifest my dreams, and can’t deal with a lot of stress very well any more. When I’m stressed out, I can’t sleep and we all know how hard it is to function properly when we don’t sleep well.

I’m someone who is not afraid to talk about most things, but many people are and they need the kind of inspiration and encouragement that someone like Emily can provide.

One of the things I struggle with most is trying to not put out negative thoughts and words in public and thereby manifesting more negativity into my life (The Law of Attraction scares the hell out of me sometimes!). I’m not an optimist by nature and I have to work hard at seeing the light in a dark situation.

We should concentrate on taking care of ourselves first and then focus on what it is that we truly want to do. I know that my focus has been really scattered for a while now and I have to work extra hard at keeping it on track just to get the things accomplished that I need to do in a week. I can’t imagine how hard Emily’s struggle has been (or any of my friends who have bipolar disorder) and I can’t wait to read her book because I think it will be extremely inspirational.

These are the lyrics to Emily’s song Start Over Again from her latest album, Believer:

START OVER AGAIN
(Emily Maguire)
______________________________

Caught in the muddy waters, falling down
If I could breathe then I would drown
I’m fifteen, I feel older than God
I got dreams and a hole in my heart

And he said
Go slow, be kind, be wise
Start over again

Out of the muddy waters, I come round
I said I’m off to London town
My love is strong, the years roll by
But now it’s gone in the blink of an eye

And he said
Go slow, you need time, be wise
Start over again

Thrown in the muddy waters, I come down
And you were waiting there on the ground
And then you put your hand in mine
You put your heart on the line

And you said
We’ll go slow, you need time, be mine
And start over again

So pour on the muddy waters, I won’t drown
I’ll be walking a hilltop town
And I will make the most of time
And someday to a child of mine

Well I’ll say
Go slow, be kind, be wise
Start over again, just start over again

Introducing Purple Door Metaphysical Books & Gifts and KingstonPsychic.com

Miss Merle a.k.a. Marilyn Shannon of KingstonPsychic.com

On a more personal note than normal, I would like to share something that I have become involved with and delighted by of late. I have had an interest in metaphysical, mystical, paranormal, pagan and spiritual ideologies for many years although it’s not something I talk about a lot, unless it’s with friends who know me well. I read my horoscope quite frequently (I’m a Capricorn and was born in the Year of the Rabbit); I’ve been to see a number of different psychics and spiritual healers over the years; and my best friend gave me my first tarot deck when I was 16 years old. Ever since then I would occasionally give myself (and a friend here and there) the odd reading and read the book that came with my Aquarian tarot.

Recently, I bought The Llewellyn Tarot because I fell in love with the pictures on the cards and I’m taking a tarot class hosted by Marilyn Shannon at Purple Door Metaphysical Books & Gifts to learn more about the Major Arcana cards and how to read them. It’s fun and more often than not, the issues that come out in the cards are eerily accurate.

A few years ago my beautiful and beloved cousin, Susan Brecht, opened a very special store in Kingston, Ontario at 376 Barrie Street called The Purple Door. She sells a wide range of spiritual, metaphysical and mystical books, as well as CDs, DVDs, candles, incense, perfume, tarot and oracle cards, mandala colouring books, greeting cards, jewelry, statuary, and many more beautiful and intriguing items. It’s really hard for me to walk in there and not leave without having purchased something!

Susan’s daughter Nicole works with her in the store (and in Susan’s hair & aesthetic salon, The Sapphire Room, which is in the back), along with Kingston Psychic, Marilyn Shannon, who offers psychic readings, psychic roundtables, tarot classes, crystal ball classes and coaching.

A couple of weeks ago I had a one hour tarot card reading by Marilyn and I was amazed by how intuitive she is and how accurate and interesting the reading was. It was almost like having a psychotherapy session! Marilyn is very kind and friendly and states right up front that her readings are meant to be entertaining and enlightening but if you’re looking for medical, financial or legal advice, consult a professional. I left with three new crystals, a notecard filled with “homework” and a digital recording of my reading, not to mention a renewed sense of hope.

Susan, Marilyn and Nicole are three very lovely and loving ladies who really do practice what they “preach.” In fact, Susan has been a great inspiration to me because she’s living proof that the Law of Attraction really works if you believe in it. She has made astonishingly positive and fantastic changes in her life over the past five years since she’s been seriously involved in new age spirituality/metaphysics. She started by posting positive affirmations all over her house and repeating them every day for two years and I can’t tell you what an incredibly positive and prosperous impact that had on her life. (Well I could, but it is personal, so I’ll let her tell you if you happen to visit her!) I struggle with hope, faith, and belief in the power of positive thinking but I want to believe it all so badly, that sometimes it hurts.

For those of you who are interested in such topics, I would encourage you to visit the Purple Door fan page on Facebook as well as Marilyn’s KingstonPsychic.com fan page. You can also check out their official websites and sign up for Marilyn’s newsletter which will keep you informed about special events and offers both at the Purple Door and KingstonPsychic.com.

As Marilyn says,

“See Me … See You … Find Peace For Your Soul.”
